Letter of Union soldier George Williams to his sister Lillias [manuscript], 1863 November 4.

Williams, a musician, notes "The Maj sent for me to come as they have got their Drums and they cant do unless I am there." He briefly relays what little war new he knows including "the forces expect to fall back after Election. I don't think there will be any more fighting in the valley this winter...the army layes at Cedar Creek the same as when I last wrote. The 123rd is rather small at pressent They have had a rough time of it ...but it is all for the Country..." With the collection are dealer descriptions of two more Williams letters.
